About Calangute:
Once a sleepy fishing village on a magnificent golden sand beach, Calangute was discovered and made home by the hippies of the sixties. It is now a bustling, lively, busy throbbing market town by day. Everything can be found here - either in the street markets with stalls selling traditional handicraft goods from Rajasthan, Kashmir, Nepal, Tibet and other corners of India or, in contrast, there are designer shops, such as Benetton, Lacoste, and Reebok. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and nightlife is still fairly lowkey
