The Directors, Sue Watkins and Linda Guthrie were work colleagues in the UK civil service and after several holidays in Goa, they saw a gap in the Goa tourism market and set up Lazydays in Goa, a specialist villa holiday company. Lazydays was the first villa company in Goa and held this position for ten years.
John Bishop joined the company on sales in 1999 after many years in the hospitality industry running his own successful Country House Hotel and Restaurant in North Devon.
In 2004 Lazydays appointed Essenelle Holiday Homes PVT Ltd as their ground handling agent in Goa. To strengthen the sales force Sudha Mathew joined the team in 2010 as Sales and Marketing Head for Lazydays India and now specialises in the demand from the fast growing domestic sector.
Over this period the company has been able to build a team of trustworthy, well-trained staff who work to the highest standards and most importantly offer a professional and efficient service to guests.
Lazydays is a small company offering guests a very personalised service during the booking process and during their holiday. The directors believe that the only way they can achieve this is by keeping the company small and to have a detailed knowledge of all the properties and the locations and regularly reviewing company performance and customer satisfaction. They personally visit and select new properties all of which have to be of a minimum standard in furnishing, décor, facilities and ambience. Guests expect a high standard of accommodation and the whole team work hard to achieve this - more properties are rejected than make the grade. Based on their personal knowledge, the directors have written a Lazydays Holiday Guide and Property Handbook for each villa and apartment which is an invaluable information "starter pack" to Goa.
Lazydays in Goa Ltd is a specialist holiday company offering short -term rentals of high quality villas and apartments in Goa.
The business was set up in 1995 by Linda Guthrie and Sue Watkins to offer an alternative to the standard hotel and guest-house holiday available in Goa coupled with quality, sustainable, low impact tourism.
Lazydays in Goa became a limited company in 1996, received approval, the following year, for full merchanting facilities and is able to accept payments made with all major credit cards. In 1999 the company launched its own website and has developed a Privacy Statement to protect customers' personal details.
By summer 2002 it had grown to 33 properties and a full time sales office based in Bournemouth. John Bishop, our sales manager, had also joined the team.
In 2004 a separate Indian Company, Essenelle Holiday Homes PVT Ltd was established to carry out sales, property management and customer services on a contract basis for Lazydays in Goa.
In 2009 a second website was launched aimed at the growing Indian domestic market and Sudha Mathew was recruited as Marketing and Sales Agent for the whole of India. Short stay holidays of 3-4 days were introduced.
The company has continued to expanded its markets with contracts with major Travel and Tour companies and is now offering villas to customers on inward bound tours of India
